TRANSFER is pleased to present ‘Artifacts II’ a solo presentation of Phazero. In partnership with Wallplay #ONCANAL, a corridor for new ideas, this exhibition is part of the ‘International Womxn’s Day’ programming curated by Terry Lovette and AnnaLiisa Benston.

Artifacts II is a first-person exploration adventure game, set in surreal environments representing memory spaces in the character’s mind. The game is about the character's mental health journey and the entanglement of trauma in the mind and body.

Artifacts II uses elements of exploration (or walking sims), RPG, and Survival MDA to reveal the fragments of a character’s broken past.

You can download and play the Demo on itch.io. The game was an Indi Cade Official Selection in 2018  and was featured at the Game Art Festival at the Hammer Museum, LA.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Christina "Phazero" Curlee (1989, Chicago USA) is a multi-disciplinary game designer specializing in Design Narrative, Game and Level Design. Their games explore emotional experiences, marginalized identities, “digital consciousness” and video games as art practice.

Their current project, Artifacts is a game-experience about depression and trauma, and discusses painful topics in an imaginative, regenerative, dream-like manner as a metaphor for therapy and healing. Phazero is based in LA where they are completing an MFA in UCLA’s Design Media Arts
