SCREEN SPACES:

A geography of moving image in New York Featuring RHIZOME

December 1st - December 13th, 2018

On View Tue - Sat 12 PM - 7 PM

Thursday 12PM - 9PM

322A Canal Street, New York City

Rhizome premieres a new installation by Dutch net art duo JODI at ON CANAL, on the occasion of Screen Spaces, a multi-venue exhibition about the geography of moving image from Het Nieuw Instituut, Rotterdam. This project follows recent major installations for And/Or Gallery in Pasadena and Upstream Gallery in Amsterdam, which invited users to explore a unique Cartesian IRL space as well as an invisible URL dataspace. Visitors will traverse a bay on Canal Street, engaging with a bespoke structure and altered WIFI network. JODI at ON CANAL is organized by Aria Dean, assistant curator of net art at Rhizome, with Vere van Gool, curator of Screen Spaces. Rhizome champions born-digital art and culture through commissions, exhibitions, and digital preservation programs. It is an affiliate of the New Museum in NYC.
