Self-proclaimed “conceptual kitsch” Designer, Gabriela Ostolaza, will be presenting her riotous FW19 collection at 316 CANAL Saturday February 16th. Following a year hiatus, Ostolaza’s eponymous label resurrects with an immersive presentation and pop up experience. The label will experiment with the see now buy now concept, with a limited run of key collection pieces for sale at the event. Seemingly fit for the impatient Instagram generation. The presentation comes in partnership with queer techno collaborative FIST, with original set design by Artist Tyler Mariano. Ostolaza draws inspiration from fashions current monotonous nihilistic state. Using a visual language that merges the accessibility of low brow pop taste with expertise of unconventional material. New York based, Ostolaza has a BFA in Fashion Design with a specialization in sportswear from the Fashion Institute of Technology. Ostolaza held her debut fashion show for the SS16 collection "Gaijin (外人) during NYFW 2015. She has worked on special projects and as a Costume Designer for international clients such as Lady Gaga, Ashley Graham, Rihanna, Azealia Banks, and the J Soul Brothers 三代目. And has been featured in publications Nylon, Paper, Tush, and WWD.
